Is there any other way of getting hold of iPhoto 9.6.1? It’s available for download from, but I’m wary of downloading from a site I don’t know.
I have seen various posts explaining how to download iPhoto from the Apple Store if you have it in your purchased list, but all I have in my purchased list is Lion and El Capitan. I know that iPhoto 9.6.1 will run on El Capitan, but iPhoto no longer appears in the Apple Store. I need to get iPhoto running so that I can move my iPhoto library to my external drive. Most of the storage space on my iMac is taken up by photos, so with that and applications, I’m hard-pressed to find 19gb more space.
I thought it would be better to upgrade first and then move the library, which turns out to have been a bad decision. I have an external drive I was planning to move my photo library to after the upgrade. Meanwhile, iPhoto has a no entry sign over the icon and won’t run. However, when I clicked on the Photos icon, the migration of my iPhoto library failed with a message saying I needed an additional 19gb of space. Use your Apple ID or create a new account to start using Apple services. The upgrade itself ran without any problems. Sign in to iCloud to access your photos, videos, documents, notes, contacts, and more. The minimum recommended free space was 8gb and I had about 15gb, so I thought I’d be fine. To use these services requires Internet access and may require you to accept additional terms. Can anybody please offer me some advice on this? I upgraded my iMac from Lion to El Capitan.
